On Friday, October 2, 2009,   Schermerhorn students and staff  who work on the Grapevine, our school newspaper, visited the NYI Museum.  It is a wonderful, new space on campus which honors and celebrates our school’s leadership role in the history of special education.

We also benefited from having a chance to meet Mr. and Mrs. Nelson.  It was wonderful to watch Ann Nelson bring the character and music of Fanny Crosby to life.  As a result, the students are interested in researching  the lives of other famous NYI alumni and staff who have buildings on campus named for them.
