Students in the Van Cleve Residential Program had an opportunity to visit the Bronx Zoo’s Congo Gorilla Forest exhibit this week. Kobey was our map reader and kept us heading in the right direction. Students met a variety of Congo Residents during our tour.

Our group was greeted by the Black and White Colobus Monkey. We were all fascinated by the Okapi, a member of the Giraffe family with an unusually resemblance to the Zebra. Sally and Michael discuss the Red River Hog while Raheem checked out the African Rock Python.

We enjoyed a film about the rain forest and the role gorillas play in its life cycle. Students became very interested in how to “Create a Gorilla Reserve”. The Western Lowland Gorilla seemed as interested in us as we were of him. He sat and watched us for quite a while.
